What should I do during a water emergency?Things can get dangerous very fast when water is rushing into your home. After you give us a call try to perform the following steps as you wait for us to arrive so we can begin cleanup. Shut off your water. This is the most important step. If you don't know where the shut off valve is, our technicians will try to help you locate it over the phone so it will do as little damage as possible when we are on the way. Remove excess water by using a wet vacuum, a mop or towels to soak up the water. If the water is high, just wait for our technicians to arrive to mitigate it for you. out of safety precautions. Whatever you do, don't use your regular vacuum as it's not water safe. If your carpet or rugs are soaking wet, use plastic containers to put your furniture legs in to get them out of the wet flooring. You can also use aluminum foil to put under the legs of the furniture which acts as a barrier to the moisture. Pick any items up that are laying on the floor, wipe them off and put them in a different room or on top of your couch quickly. Remove any magazines or books that may get damaged by the water. If your curtains hang to the ground you need to drape them over the curtain rod to preent damage. An alternatie would be to take them down and hang them on a coat hanger to avoid contact with the floors. Do not use electronics that have come in to contact with the water. If your flood happened above your den then your ceiling fan, lights or TV may have been affected without you realizing it. Turning these items on could be dangerous. Consider turning the power at the breaker box.

How long does it take to dry out the water?Drying out a space greatly depends on how bad the water damage is. On average it will take between 3-5 days but this varies on each project. For instance, if you have been out of town and you have a pipe burst, you won't know until you get back home after a week. That would mean the saturation levels will be greater and harder to remove than someone that hears their pipe burst and calls within 30 minutes. Water can cause structural damage very fast. You do not want to let it linger, especially if it's sewage back up.
